St. Nicholas in Civic Heraldry
Since St.
Nicholas is a very popular patron saint of cities, villages, towns, districts,
churches, and other institutions, he is frequently portrayed on official coats
of arms. These images and symbols provide a rich sense of how
widespread St. Nicholas' influence has been. Most of these coats of arms
are used with the gracious permission of International Civic
Arms.
