St. Nicholas Train

The last narrow-gauge steam train in North-Rhine-Westphalia runs a special St. Nicholas train in December. During the 2-hour round trip St. Nicholas comes through the cars, greeting children and distsributing treat bags filled with a bread man, chocolate Santa, clementines and taai taai (licorice flavored cookie). While the train refuels in Schierwaldenrath St. Nicholas may be visited and sausages and hot chocolate are available. More than 10,000 passengers ride the Nikolausbahn each year.
