A St. Nicholas Bishop is appointed every year; a boy or girl, choir member or otherwise. The St. Nicholas Bishop is appointed on the Second Sunday of Advent, our patronal festival, the Sunday nearest to the Feast of St. Nicholas. At the beginning of Parish Eucharist all the children and young people present the St. Nicholas Bishop with appropriate regalia. The Bishop then assists with the Eucharist. This is not play-acting or just "being nice to kids," it is worship as a Christian family, a family in which all those baptized, of whatever age, play an important part.
