Festa di San Nicola

St Nicholas is the patron saint of Pollutri and devotion to him goes back to the early 1700s. He has a chapel in Chiesa del Santissimo Salvatore with an altar painting and statues. The town celebrates its patron in both December and May. Beans, bread and wine are distributed to the faithful during the December festival. The beans are cooked outdoors on the eve of the festival day. The bread is impressed with the saint's image. In May the bread is round, shaped more like a bagel.
