Prayer Service & Reception

Here in Sint-Nicolaaskerk, the patron saint's feast is observed with a prayer service with an Old Testament lesson, a St. Nicholas legend and a Gospel reading, followed by a reception in the Dean's house. Children and adults bring toys to be distributed to children of families seeking asylum in Belgium. After the service concludes, either Saint Nicholas or a Piet greets the assembly, telling about Nicholas along with light-hearted jokes. He then leads everyone to the reception where refreshments and Sinterklaas treats abound.
