This commemorative medal shows the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Hamburg, Germany, before and after the 1842 fire that destroyed the city. The cathedral was restored, but the steeple foundation was damged during World War II bombings. The coin is made from copper salvaged from the steeple destroyed in the 1842 fire.
