This story, also, gives witness to the supernatural holiness attributed to Saint Nicholas.
Here a dragon was terrorizing a village, and under Nicholas' hand of blessing, the dragon was charmed into submission and troubled the town no more.
This event is fairly unusual in accounts of Saint Nicholas and is thought to be a later accretion, rooted in the hagiographic conventions of the life of Nicholas of Sion.
