On the following pages you will find an Advent Devotional. Begin on December 1 and read one devotion each day. This series has been prepared with families in mind, though hopefully it will appeal to Christians of all ages who want to enrich themselves this Advent season.
The Devotional has a comic strip message for each day. We think children especially will be able to relate to and understand the meaning of Advent through this medium. Adults too should be able to find them thought-provoking. While we hope that all will enjoy the humor of Mike, Molly and Baby, we also hope that a "message" will come through regarding these wonderful days before Christmas.
HOW TO USE THE DEVOTIONAL
You will want to set aside a few minutes every day from December 1st to Christmas. Perhaps the end of the evening meal while you are still together would be an appropriate time. You will need a Bible [or online rollover the biblical reference]. Any translation will do. Read the assigned Bible reading. They are all quite brief. Then (be sure everyone can see the pictures) the comic strip. Then read the written text along the left-hand side of the paper. The texts, too, are quite short. The family can then sing or say together the verses of the various Christmas carols that are included. Of course, each family may want to add items to the Devotion . . . a free prayer, the Lord's Prayer, etc. You will find five full page pictures scattered throughout the twenty-five daily devotions. They are "bonuses." Children may want to color in the Devotional as they go along. [If so, print the page.]
REMEMBER TO START ON DECEMBER 1st AND THEN GET READY FOR THE BIRTHDAY OF A KING.
Blessed Advent and Christmas to each one of you from . . .
