Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USAA Visit with St. Nicholas
German nuns founded the St. Nicholas Hospital in the 1880s and named it after the local priest. St. Nicholas visits every year—both local children and hospital patients. Community children come to the hospital cafeteria where the good saint greets children and hands out treats. Each child brings a new, unwrapped toy for St. Nicholas’ toy chest and/or new mittens, scarves and hats for the Giving Tree. More than $1000 in gifts were collected for distribution by local agencies. The several hundred mittens, hats and scarves are distributed through the schools.
