Begun in 2001, the Canterbury St Nicholas Festival quickly became an established part of city and cathedral life. The St Nicholas Society sponsors it together with the city and cathedral. This festival has been contagious—each year there are more St Nicholas celebrations in England. The society, founded by Canon Jim Rosenthal, seeks to revive St Nicholas customs.
