Scotch Plains, New Jersey, USAItalian Festival
The 4-day Labor Day weekend festival offers rides, carnival games, Italian food and much more. The Saturday Mass, in Italian for the occasion, is followed by a procession honoring San Nicola di Bari, the patron saint of Montazzoli, Italy. Many immigrants from Montazzoli settled in Scotch Plains and have kept the Montazzoli tradition alive. The whole community is invited to participate along with the San Nicola statue, acolytes, priests, Italian street band, parishioners and the local branch of the Italian American Service Organization, UNICO National. The festival supports the church, school and UNICO charities and scholarship fund.
