Palencia, Valencia, SpainHoly Innocents Day
The custom began in Palencia in 1220—and has continued until the 20th century and has been recently revived. The Boy Bishop presides in the Chapter House, rides through the town on a white horse, giving candy to young children and blessing everyone. His sermon addresses issues of concern to children: parks, pedestrian areas and toys for everyone. He also censes the altar at Vespers.
