Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USACatechesis of the Good Shepherd
For the Feast of St. Nicholas, one of our longtime members visits the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. He then puts on bishop’s vestments in front of the children, who are invited to name each one of the vestments and assist him in putting them on. It’s a great game each year to see who can remember the names of the vestments. Once he is fully vested, he reads the life of St.Nicholas out loud. The children are then invited one at a time to come up and hear St. Nicholas read a letter addressed to each of them (actually written by parents/caregivers). The letters go over the previous year, filled with love and praise and the occasional admonishment. Then each child receives a small gift bag with a laminated St. Nicholas card.
