The Anacortes Croatian community's St. Nicholas festival takes place on several days. First, on December 6th, the actual feast day, the celebration begins with mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Then the Croation fishing community members carry the icon of St. Nicholas and a wreath to Seafarer's Memorial Park. Another wreath is placed on the water for those lost at sea. After the blessing, the icon is brought back to the Croatian Center. On the following Sunday the St. Nicholas story is told, the saint himself visits, Croatian dancers perform, there is singing and much more.
