Greifswald Germany
Evangelical Lutheran
Built between 1250 and 1410, the Cathedral of St Nicholas, known as 'the slender Nikoluas' is the largest of the city's Gothic churches. Its three Gothic naves were altered to become a basilica. The church has many medieval mural paintings on walls and vaults. In 1947 the bishopric was moved from Stettin making this church a cathedral. Due to neglect during the East Germany period, there was extensive refurbishment completed in 1989.
