Church Website

One of the oldest churches in Prague (1273), it was originally part of a Catholic monastery. It was rebuilt in 1735. When the monastery was closed the church was stripped and used to store grain. Later it served as an archive and concert hall. From 1871 until 1920 it was home to a Russian Orthodox community. In 1920 it was given to Protestant Hussites. Concerts are still held in this active church.

Frescos celebrating St Nicholas as a pillar of the church, all the nations venerating him, the Virgin Mary receiving him into heaven, and the miracle at sea are shown in the cupola and choir.
