The oldest Catholic church in Kiel was built in 1890 and was the first new Catholic church to be built since the Reformation. It was consecrated in 1893. Following destruction in World War II, the church was rebuilt in a simplified manner in the 1950s. with the facade and tower completely redesigned. In 1966-67 it was severely redesigned and the abstract glass installed.
