Eglise Saint-Nicolas

Liège (Outremeuse), Wallonia Belgium

Roman Catholic

Built in the early 18th century, the church served as a Récollets monastery church. It became Saint-Nicholas parish church in 1804 when old Saint-Nicolas church, located in the Prés on Outremeuse, was demolished and the patronage transfered here. Noted writer Georges Simenon grew up here and his family pew was in this parish. The black statue of the Virgin is carried in procession at the great Marian festival, 15 August.
