St. Nicholas, who is the Patron Saint of the Church, was Bishop of Myra in Asia Minor in the 4th Century. The window illustrates one of the many stories told about him. Sailors, having been given a phial of oil by an evil person, have a vision of St Nicholas who orders them to empty the phial into the sea which then bursts into flames.
