The Saint Nicolas Chapel with this Renaissance painting of Saint Nicolas is one of the most important of the Cathedral's nine chapels. The alms box is to provide dowry money to help orphaned young ladies to find husbands. On St Nicholas' Day, twelve honest needy women were selected for the dowry grants.
