Once there was a rich man who guarded his gold day and night. He heard about St Nicholas powers, so he had an image of St Nicholas made to protect his treasure when he was away.
Panel 1: Thieves stole the treasure;
Panel 2, top: The rich man beat upon the image of St Nicholas;
Panel 2, bottom: St Nicholas, battered and worn, appeared to the thieves;
Panel 3: Who took pity on him and returned the gold.
