"19 December is St. Nicholas Day. St. Nicholas, who is famous for his service to people, has been revered in Ukraine since Kyiv Rus times. St. Nicholas is believed to have performed many miracles, and his spiritual experience is handed down from generation to generation.

He embodied a good spirit who oversees children all year round. If a child behaves itself St. Nicholas is happy. If a child misbehaves St. Nicholas gets upset. St. Nicholas Day commemorates care and love for the people around you. Children most eagerly await this holiday and write St. Nicholas letters with their wishes on the holiday's eve.
