Church Website

This church, built between 1877 and 1879, was consecrated in 1882. It was a memorial to Augustus Smith, appointed Lord Proprietor of the Scillies in 1834. His forward thinking ideas changed Tresco for the better. Edith Dorrien-Smith laid the cornerstone in 1877. Tresco, the second-largest of the Isles of Scilly, is 28 miles southwest of Cornwall's Land's End. Tresco, originally named St Nicholas, was broken into two islands (Tresco and Bryher) in the mid 1500s. The church belongs to the Parish of the Isles of Scilly.
