Completed in 1854 the building originally served the Second Reformed Church (Dutch/German). As that congregation disbanded it became the Russian Orthodox Independent Congregation and Church of St Nicholas in 1918. The church has been restored and improved for each major anniversary, including the iconography. The inner city parish draws its members from a 75-mile radius.
