Located at the east end of the bay, Pedro Bay was named for a man known as 'Old Pedro' who lived in the area in the early 1900s. The village is a Dena'ina Indian village with a subsistence lifestyle, utilizing salmon, trout, moose, bear, rabbit and seal. Summer brings an increase in population with employment in the fishery and tourism. The log chapel, built in 1890, is 15 x 15 feet with an apse extension. It was listed in 1980 on the National Register of Historical Places, naming its period of significance from 1875-1899.
