The parish, believed to date from Saxon times, was dedicated to St Nicholas about 1170. The tower and west end of the present church were erected in 1799. A Child Bishop is appointed at the annual morning Patronal Festival of St Nicholas. In the evening a Child Bishop & Christingle service is held, followed by wine and mince pies.
