Orthodox Church in America
Many immigrants came to the Albany area around 1900 because it was the center for the textile industry in the United States. The first Orthodox Divine Liturgy was held in 1914. A new building was dedicated to St Nicholas the Wonderworker in 1916. This church was dismantled in 1941 to make way for a new building, which was dedicated in 1942. In 1966 a new church hall was built next to the church.
