Orthodox Church in America (Russian)
This small log chapel, originally built around 1870 in Knik and moved to Eklutna around 1895. The church was reconstructed in the 1970s. It is the oldest building in the Anchorage area and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is built of squared spruce logs with dove-tailed corners. In the 1960s a new St Nicholas Church was built adjacent to this one in the Eklutna Historic Village. A major grant was received in 2023 to provide a new foundation, moving the church 16 feet, repairing the roof, rechinking the logs, strenthening the bell tower, and adding fire suppression equipment.
