Sidmouth, Devonshire England UK
Church of England (Anglican)
A church has stood here for more than 800 years. In 1860 it was completely rebuilt keeping only the tower and some columns from the 15th century church. At that time Queen Victoria gave the great west window in memory of her father, the Duke of Kent, who died of pneumonia while visiting Sidmouth. The church was originally dedicated only to St Giles, St Nicholas was added later for the town's fishermen.
Queen Victoria's great west window, showing Jesus in Glory, blessing children, surrounded by the Matthew 26 six acts of mercy, care of orphans and religious education.
