Dedicated to St Nicholas of Myra, patron saint of sailors (and of children), it is a reminder that the town was once a flourishing port. Ships tied up alongside the churchyard until a great storm in 1287 diverted the course of the River Rother away from Romney. The height of the flood waters can still be seen from stains on the pillars inside.More information and photos
