The ancient church dates at least to the early 13th century. The chancel is from the 1300s, the chancel arch, nave, and south porch a century later, though the structure of the nave is thought to be older. The church was restored in 1863, thought to have reproduced original detail. The church is part of the Merriott Benefice with Merriott All Saints with Hinton and Lopen.
