[Church of England (Anglican)]
The church is named for the patron saint of the sailors who worked on the now lost third arm of the Severn Quay. It is mostly 13th century with 15th century additions and parts of the first 1190 building. It was so popular in the 16th century that squints were put in the walls of the chancel so the congregation could see the high altar from the side chapels. The parish was joined with St Mary de Lode in 1975 and the church closed.Exhibitions and occasional services are now held in St Nicholas; one on St Nicholas Day in 1998 (6 Dec), was memorable as there is no heating system at all. The church is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
