St. Nicholas Chapel

Chester, Cheshire England UK

[Roman Catholic]

St Nicholas Chapel, said to be one of the most interesting buildings in Chester, was built in the early 1300s. Medieval sandstone walls, buttresses and window arches may still be seen from the lane along the side. The chapel was used for community worship from the mid-1300s until ownership transferred to the City in 1488. Since then it has served as the Common Hall, Wool Hall, theatre, music hall, cinema, and, most recently, as a variety of retail shops.
