Church of St Andrew &—the Blessed Virgin Mary & St Nicholas

Burton Pedwardine, Lincolnshire England UK

Church of England (Anglican)

A large cruciform church with central tower and spire was built here in the 14th century, the two chapels were dedicated to St Mary and St Nicholas. This grand church collapsed in 1802. The replacement lasted only until 1870 when the present church was constructed. Using material from the original church ruins, it contains part of the north transept with effigy of Dame Alice Pedwardine, wife of the builder of the original church, Sir Roger (ca 1350) and the alabaster tomb of Sir Thomas Horsman (1610). The church is part of the Helpringham Benefice.
