St Nicholas Church

Wilsford (N Pewsey), Wiltshire England UK

Church of England (Anglican)

A church has stood here since the 12th century. The dedication to St Nicholas dates to the 1227 appropriation to the Hospital of St Nicholas in Salisbury. The tower and porch were added in the 15th century and alterations have taken place in the 16th, 19th and 20th centuries. The north chapel was demolished in 1957, having served as a school for 100 years and then as a bakery. As rural population declined, St Nicholas is one of the five parishes that make up the Redhorn Benefice in Pewsey Vale. Services are held on alternate Sundays.
