The stone church, a landmark from the sea, was built in 1792, replacing an earlier Norman church. Holy Island, Lindisfarne, is clearly visible to the east. The chancel was added in 1862. The church was closed in the 1980s and the parish is now part of St John the Baptist, Lowick. Following 20 years neglect, the church has been converted into a private residence. It is a Grade II Listed Building.
