Built in the 12th century, the church was dedicated to St Nicholas, patron of schools and seamen. It was enlarged in the mid 1500s. Following use a store, theater, barracks, home, and cinema, it was again consecrated in 1953. It is now a War Memorial chapel and Mass is celebrated during the summer.
