Würzburg Germany
Developed in the 13th century as a hospital for leprosy patients outside the walls, it was rebuilt in 1543 as a hostel for those in need, such as elderly domestic servants with no place to call home. When the complex was reconfigured in 1600 the Gothic St. Nikolaus chapel was retained. Restored from 1975-77, it is now a modern retirement home and senior rehabilitation complex.
