Bucharest, University of Bucharest Romania
Russian OrthodoxRusian Tsar Nicholas II built (1905-1909) this Russian Orthodox church for students at the University of Bucharest. The gold-gilded iconostasis is said to be a copy of the altar in Arhangelsk Cathedral in Moscow's Kremlin. Confiscated by the Romanian government in the Communist era, it now belongs to the Romanian Orthodox Church. The soot-blackened interior walls were last washed in 1967.
