Kolomna, Moscow Oblast Russia
Old Believers Russian Orthodox
The stone church, one of the oldest in Kolomna, was built in the early 1700s. Icons and paintings were lost when the church was closed in the 1930s. The bell tower was removed, except for the lowest tier. The church was restored in 1970 and given to the community of Old Believers Russian Orthodox in the early 1990s. The more delicately ornate crosses were replaced by simpler ones. The center golden dome represents Christ and the four blue domes the Evangelists. The church is also known as the Church of the Resurrection at Posad.
