Sauzon, Bretagne France
Roman Catholic
The church, built in the 19th century to replace one that had been destroyed, was closed in 1994 due to structural unsoundness and was scheduled for demolition. Concerned citizens, working to save the church, formed the Association Avenir et Sauvegarde de Sauzon to secure approval and funding for this project and others. They succeeded and work began in 2002. The first phase included structural work inside and out as well as furnishings to prepare the building for worship use once again. The final phase will address access and utilization as a community center. The church is now open again.
