Just east of the River Narova border with Estonia, the church is part of the Ivangorod Fortress complex. Built of limestone in 1498, it was the first Orthodox church in the Narva area. For a time during the 1600s, it was used for Protestant worship, converted back to the Orthodox Rite in the mid-18th century. The last restoration was in the 1970s.
