Hastings, Sussex England UK
[Church of England (Anglican)]
Built next to the beach in 1854 to serve the local fishing community of 150 boats, the chapel of ease closed in 1939. Used by the army during World War II, it was threatened with demolition to make way for a road. After a time as an ironmongers, it has served as the Fishermen's Museum since 1956. Wooden fish net lofts, for drying nets, are adjacent to the church building. The museum is still used for christenings and hosts a carol concert every Christmas. It is operated by the Old Hastings Preservation Society and the Fishermen's Protection Society and is a Grade II listed building.More information
