Sint Nicolaaskerk

Oosternieland Netherlands

[Nederlands Hervormde Kerk (Reformed)]

This church, in a village on the Wadden Sea, is ancient. The ceilings were preserved in the 13th century and painted with geometric designs in the 15th century. The bell-turret replaced a free-standing church tower in 1823. It is now part of the Old Groningen Churches Trust (Stichting Oude Groninger Kerken), made available for concerts and exhibitions, as well as church services from time to time.
