Schelluinen Netherlands
[Roman Catholic/Reformed]
During the middle ages the 14th century church was a place of pilgrimage on the Feast of St. Nicholas. During the singing of Saint Nicholas hymns the monstrance with the sacramental host and a statue of Saint Nicholas were carried in procession around the church. There is a record of a pilgrimage to Nicholas in Schelluinen being imposed in the 14th century. The church became Reformed after the Reformation and was demolished in 1899 to allow for a new Reformed church on the same site.
