Saint-Nicolas-la-Chapelle, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes France
Roman Catholic
This Baroque church was built in 1775, illustrating the lavish beauty of the Counter-Reformation. It was finished just before the depredations of the French Revolution, though the people of Saint Nicolas la Chapelle preserved their church by dismantling and hiding the retablos. The persecutions ended about 1800 and the church was restored and remains the same today.
