Protestantse Kerk in Nederland (Reformed)

The saddle-roofed church dates from the 13th century. The tower, now owned by the municipality of Wymbritseradiel, has been restored using old Roman bricks.

Before the Reformation the church was dedicated to Saint Nicolaas and rent for church property was collected on "bill day"—Saint Nicolaas Day. When a Protestant committee inventoried parish lands and goods, the residents asked that the church still provide a cask of beer and a roast on "bill day." They didn't object to Reformation changes, as long as they could still have their merriment. And they did.
