Parochie van de H. Nicolaas en Maria Magdalena

Krommenie Netherlands

Oud-Katholieke (Old Catholic)

Among the richly decorated timber merchant houses on the main street, one finds a conventicle (hidden church). After the Reformed Church became the established church, Mennonites and Catholics were allowed to hold services in the tolerant Zaanstreek region as long as their churches didn't look like churches. This 17th century Old Catholic church has especially rich wood carving.

The Old Catholic church of the Netherlands is in full communion with the Anglican Communion.
