[Sint Nicolaaskerk]

Nijeholtwolde Netherlands

[Roman Catholic/Reformed]

This 1800 bell tower, replacing the Saint Nicholas church pulled down around that time, has a bell cast in 1788 in Amsterdam. Restoration in 1983 completely replaced the tower. It has been in the care of a foundation since 1973.

Bells were important as they announced important events, as well as church services, and, serving as the community clock, the time of day.
