Merano / Meran, Trentino Alto Adige/Südtirol Italy
Roman Catholic
The parish church with one of the highest towers in the region (83 metres) is the primary landmark in Meran. Built before 1220, it was the first Gothic church in South Tyrol and the largest church in Meran. Remodelled and extended it reached its final form in 1465. There are many frescoes, paintings, and scullptures in the church. The radon springs have made Meran a very popular tourist destination.
